Recreation Area Management Plan

The purpose of the Recreation Area Management Plan is to provide the BLM with site-specific goals, objectives, and strategies for managing the area to achieve desired recreation settings, experiences, and outcomes while avoiding conflicts between recreation users and other resource uses.

In accordance with BLM policies, the Recreation Area Management Plan will include decisions in these four categories:

  1. Management. Includes recreation management actions, such as commitment of agency resources, services to be offered to visitors, and the development and provision of recreation sites, trails, and other facilities or services.

  2. Administration. Includes regulatory actions and data management protocols.

  3. Information and Education. Includes information and education actions, such as providing maps, websites, outreach, interpretation signs, and other visitor information.

  4. Monitoring. Includes monitoring visitor use patterns, resource conditions, and visitor satisfaction.

The BLM has prepared a draft Recreation Area Management Plan for the Proposed Action (Appendix B of the Environmental Assessment).
