Welcome

Thank you for visiting the Bureau of Reclamation virtual public meeting room website for the Conconully Safety of Dams Modification project environmental assessment.

The Bureau of Reclamation invited the public to identify issues or alternatives to be considered in the environmental assessment for the Conconully Safety of Dams Modification project. The public scoping period occurred from Aug. 9, 2024, to Sept. 8, 2024. The project area is located in Okanogan County, 17 miles north of Omak, Washington.

As part of its Safety of Dams program mission, the Bureau of Reclamation is committed to ensuring its dams do not present unacceptable risk levels to people, property, and the environment. The proposed project will implement cost-effective measures to reduce long-term performance risks per the Bureau of Reclamation’s Public Protection Guidelines; maintain water deliveries and flows for irrigators and endangered species; and continue to provide recreational benefits and fish and wildlife habitat.

During the comment period, the public had the opportunity to provide input and participate in the scoping process through two in-person public meetings held on Aug. 21. The in-person meetings were combination of an open house, presentation, and opportunities for the public to submit comments. Bureau of Reclamation subject matter experts were available to answer questions.
