Wildlife
The BLM manages wildlife habitat and designates priority species within the planning area. The priority species identified in the Central Yukon RMP/EIS are moose, caribou, Dall sheep and beaver.
In addition, the BLM identifies management actions related to golden eagles as a special status species.
Management goals for wildlife habitat from actions within ACEC management, where habitat is listed as a value for the ACEC designation, or in specific area habitat management in Alternatives B and C1. Dall sheep habitat are identified with specific management actions separate from proposed ACECs are listed in Alternative C1, and non-migratory caribou range habitat actions not associated with ACECs are listed in Alternatives C1 and C2. No specific management actions are identified for Alternative D.
Management actions related to golden eagle habitat range can be found in Table 2-5 in Chapter 2, Alternatives of the Central Yukon RMP/EIS.
Additional information about wildlife habitat management actions associated with ACECs can be found in Appendix J, Land Management Allocations; wildlife habitat management actions not associated with ACECs are detailed in Appendix I, Dall Sheep and Caribou Habitat Management and Appendix P, Wildlife.
Appendix F, Standard Operating Procedures and Fluid Mineral Leasing Stipulations, contains a listing of standard operating procedures that address wildlife habitat areas in relation to permitted development activities.
Maps for core caribou habitat and Dall sheep management are Map 2-1 and Map 2-2, see Appendix A, Maps, of the Central Yukon Draft RMP/EIS.
