Alternative A

  • Focus on protecting and enhancing natural ecology while emphasizing the protection of sensitive wildlife areas and ecological resources

  • Establish the greatest number and extent of specific measures to protect or enhance resource value to the surrounding community

  • Focus on utilizing uses and restrictions to minimize impacts on natural resources

Alternative B

  • Emphasis on preservation of Chacoan and cultural landscapes, and cultural properties—includes specific measures proposed by stakeholders

  • Development scenarios for allowable uses (such as mineral leasing) would emphasize protecting the natural and cultural landscapes

  • Appropriate and allowable uses and restrictions would emphasize avoiding or minimizing impacts on resources

Alternative C (Preferred Alternative)

  • Focus on balancing community needs and development while enhancing land health

  • Emphasize Tribal and local perspective of landscape and traditional lifeways

  • Allow development to occur in harmony with traditional, historic, socioeconomic, and cultural lifeways

  • Prioritize management with fewest impacts on human communities around oil and gas development

Alternative D

  • Maximize resources that target economic outcomes while sustaining land health

  • Development of fluid mineral resources would be promoted

  • New uses would be accommodated to greatest extent possible

  • Maximize resource production and increase royalty income for the landowners while avoiding, minimizing, or otherwise mitigating impacts around communities
